French Cook for Hire (Eastern Cape)

You are looking for a culinary experience, be it a meal prepared for you and your guests, or a hands-on cooking class in your home.

Laurent, who cooks in his own restaurant, The Touraco Table in Hogsback (Eastern Cape), offers his services as a private “chef”.

He and his partner, Angus, will serve you an authentic 3- to 5-course meal (soup, starter, main, salad & dessert) in the comfort of your home. This offer includes preparing, cooking and serving the meals as well as setting and clearing the table(s) (but does not include washing up dishes after the meal).

Your kitchen must be equipped with the minimum expected for a kitchen to function optimally and efficiently, and must contain enough cutlery, crockery, glassware, cookware, bakeware as well as utensils for the number of guests attending. Laurent brings his own specialized equipment if necessary (ice-cream churner, tagines etc.).

Laurent can cook for a sit-down dinner, a buffet or a high tea for up to 20 people at a time, and offer hands-on cooking classes for up to 10 people at a time.

His cooking experience began from childhood, growing up in France in a family whose professions evolved around food. He has lived most of his life in the cultural melting pot that is South Africa where he expanded his culinary knowledge, and has experienced other cuisines through international travelling.

His cuisine is based on authentic dishes from France, India, Iran, Italy, Morocco, South Africa and Thailand. He cooks for omnivores, vegetarians and vegans alike.
